Okay, so I lied.
Okay, so I lied. I said that I’ll go back to blogging gradually… when in fact I took a very long bloggie break. But what’s important is that now I’m back (no, really I AM). So many things have been happening lately that this blog was placed in the back burner. Since my dengue scare/finding out I have high blood sugar levels… a switch in the life of my husband and I seemed to have magically turned on. We became really conscious with our unhealthy lifestyle.
If you remember, a few months ago, I quit smoking. It wasn’t easy, that’s for sure… and I’m happy to report that I’m still nicotine-free. I haven’t had a cigarette since then. To be exact, today is the 116th day since I’ve had my last cigarette. I place a number beside the date in my diary, to constantly remind me how far I’ve gone and that lighting up will just cause the number to go back to zero. So far, that kind of thinking works for me. I can’t go through that first week again. It was hell.
Next thing we did was cut out alcohol completely. It’s not good for my blood sugar and it can’t be good for my husbands GIRD (gastro-intestinal reflux disease). The last time I drank was two bottles of beer at Ann’s birthday celebration… and that’s because of peer pressure (can you imagine? at 31 years old… i still give in to peer pressure). We hardly went out anyway, so that wasn’t a very big deal for us.
We then changed our diet… well “changing” is the more proper term. We are changing the way we eat. We have always been carnivores. But now, we’re trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. No more beef… only very very little of pork but mostly chicken and fish.
And finally… the grand daddy of all lifestyle change. We wake up at 6:00 am to jog.
Again, I’m not trying to justify my bloggie break… I’m just sharing my experience… What I’ve been up to when I was away… hehehehe. So, I lied. I tried to start writing again but I got too caught up with the things I wanted to work on in my life. Now, I’m back. I really am. I’ve missed this blog too much.
