Everything Under The Tropical Sun

Anything and everything under the sun that I could think of writing about.

Happy Anniversary!

It was our 3rd year wedding anniversary yesterday. We didn’t really do anything. We took the fastcraft (a fast ferry boat) to Ormoc. It’s about 2 hours 30 minutes ride from Cebu. Boy! It was cold but I was sweating like crazy. They announced that it’d be “moderate to rough” seas out but they didn’t say it was during the whole duration of the trip!

The whole time I was trying to relax… taking deep breaths to calm my gag reflex. I’d look out to sea but it didn’t help… look at the TV monitor, it was worse… Closed my eyes, I wanted to jump ship! Part of me was wishing we were still near shore because I’d readily jump over board than suffer more of the swinging and swaying of the boat.

If only it wasn’t for a dear client, I would have left the terminal as soon as they announced that the ride would be undesirable. So yes, everyone… on our anniversary, my husband and I went to see a client. Story of our life. If it wasn’t this particular client, we wouldn’t have given a damn. She’s cool, no hang ups, nothing. Her favorite word is “widow-widow” –> meaning playing things by ear. That’s what she did with her business. She made most of her decisions by ear. Now, she commissioned us to help her professionalize by re-branding herself. A “make-over” of sorts as she works towards turning her food business into a franchise.

It didn’t feel like work. It usually doesn’t when working for a great client. It wasn’t really a bad way to spend our anniversary. As a couple, we weren’t really that big on celebrating dates. On our birthdays we would usually just have a simple (but very very yummy, mind you) dinner with close family and friends… or we’d simply sleep in and enjoy each other’s company.

Aside from the rough sea trip (going and coming back… what a nightmare!), all in all, I’d say we celebrated our anniversary in our true couple fashion: simple, productive and we were with each other.
